This Lafayette Micro 66 transceiver donated by Don Bryant (RG113) is similar to the first 27mHz base transceiver used at Margate Base in 1976. To get the network off the ground we supplied 120 of these radios to those that joined the Tasmanian Smallcraft Marine Radio Group. They had an output power of 5 watts. While Storm Bay, Frederick Henry Bay and Channel was our primary service area, amazingly we had regular contacts with vessels as far away as Coles Bay.

This model was a usable boat radio from 1976 until 1998.
